Making Friends on the Fly: Advances in Ad Hoc Teamwork Pdf Book Description:
This publication is dedicated to the experience and interaction of agents such as bots along with different brokers and explains how they collaborate with their formerly unidentified mates, forming an Ad Hoc team. It presents a new algorithm, PLASTIC, which enables agents to rapidly adapt to new teammates by reusing knowledge learned from prior teammates. PLASTIC is instantiated in either a model-based strategy, PLASTIC-Model along with a policy-based strategy, PLASTIC-Policy.
Along with reusing knowledge learned from prior teammates, PLASTIC also permits users to give expert-knowledge and may use transfer learning (like the new Two Phase Transfer algorithm) to immediately create versions of teammates as it has some information regarding its teammates. The efficacy of the algorithm is shown on three domains, which range from multi-armed bandits to simulated robot football games.
